Even with Parkinson’s, you can keep your voice strong!
Often, people with Parkinson’s are no longer easily understood by others. The voice becomes softer and trails off. It becomes more difficult to maintain an even speaking pace. The voice may lose inflection and become monotone. Sometimes, swallowing difficulties occur.
At Cornerstone Speech, we specialize helping people with Parkinson’s maintain strong communication with others. Carol Krakower, M.A. CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist certified in Speak Out! for Parkinsons and LSVT. We offer individual speech therapy once a week for half-hour sessions, either in our office or over the computer. We accept Medicare and most insurance plans. Cornerstone Speech is a sponsor of the Grooving on a Thursday Afternoon program for people with Parkinson’s, which is free and open to the public.
